Meet Bishop Frances V. Mills

Bishop Frances Virgil Mills – Servant of the Almighty God - Saved by Grace, Called by God, Anointed by the Holy Spirit, and called to Teach and Preach the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.


Bishop Mills is a native of Waycross, Ga and a product of the Waycross public school system. She received her BS degree in Social Welfare from Georgia State University in 1971 and has furthered her studies at Mercer University and ITC pursuing a Masters of Divinity. She is the daughter of Mrs. Vida L. Virgil and the late Curtis Virgil of Waycross, Ga.

 

She accepted the Lord as her personal Savior at an early age at Big Bethel Freewill Baptist Church in Waycross. As an adult, she joined and rededicated her life to the Lord in 1973 at The Greater Piney Grove Baptist Church in Atlanta, Ga. under the late Pastor Frank Jones. She acknowledged her call to ministry in April 1997, was licensed in January 1998 and was ordained in November 1999, under the pastorate of Dr. William E. Flippin, Sr. at The Greater Piney Grove Baptist Church.

In January 2018, in memory of her late daughter, Rev. Arriana Mills Daniel, who was the Assistant Pastor, Bishop Mills established a Scholarship Fund to continue the work Rev. Arriana was doing in providing scholarships to High School Graduates to help them further their education.
 

Bishop Mills is committed to serving God’s people in every walk of life and is an active leader and servant in the Metro Atlanta community. She is a retired Human Resources professional with more than 25 years in the industry. For more than 20 years she served in the Mount Calvary Missionary & Education Baptist Association where she served as President of the Women’s Division, President of the Youth Division and 1 st Vice Moderator of this 86 year old Association, making her the first female to ever hold such a leadership position in the organization. Sha has been honored as “Woman of the Year” by the Ross Report News at its 20th Annual Statewide Community Leaders Banquet. She currently serves as Co-owner and COO of “Emerging Visions, Inc.”, a training and staff development consulting company which she co- founded and partnered withher daughter, the late Rev. Arriana Mills Daniel. Bishop Mills is a 1969 Charter member of the Zeta Phi Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. at Georgia State University, making it the first African American Sorority on the Georgia State University campus.
 

In July 2015, Pastor Mills was consecrated to the office of “Bishop” at the Annual Holy Convocation of Churches of The Light of The World International Interdenominational Association, under the leadership of Archbishop Ruth W. Smith. Bishop Mills was assigned territory responsibility for developing and assisting pastors and churches in Jamaica. Since her consecration, Bishop Mills has answered the call to expand ministry across the US and around the world – having now ministered internationally in Jamaica, England and Ghana.

Bishop Mills has been married to Bro. Ervin E. Mills, her high school sweetheart, for 54 years. She and Bro. Ervin are the proud parents of 2 children - Ervin Allen Curtis Mills and the late Rev. Arriana Mills Daniel. They are the proud grandparents of 6 – Keyona, Ervin Allen Curtis II,Jazmin, Christopher, Sydney and Keyshon.
 

Bishop Frances Virgil Mills, is truly a Woman of God – Called to Serve, Constrained by Love, Convicted by the WORD, Consecrated by the Blood, Confirmed by the Gospel, Controlled by the Holy Ghost and Committed to equipping the Saints through Teaching and Preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ !

From January 2000 until June 2005, she served as an Assistant Pastor , making her the first female to serve in this role at the church. In 2004 Bishop Mills heeded the voice of God to step out on faith and take ministry to a new level: 

  • April  2004 she began a Saturday evening Bible Study Ministry entitled “Sister-2- Sister”

  • September 2005 Bishop founded Tabernacle of Faith Christian Church and began holding Mid-Week Church services until November 2005 , when the first Sunday morning service was held on November 5th at 7:30 am.  

  • In March 2011, the membership purchased and moved into its current church building and acreage located at 2999 Flat Shoals Rd in Decatur.

  • Bishop has trained and ordained 13 Deacon Leaders (both male and female) and has licensed and ordained 5 ministers. Under her leadership and training many ministries have been birthed to enhance service to God and His people.
